2.Segment the research model into a series of “yes/no” questions called hypotheses.

3.Conjecture predictions from the hypothesis. Identify the expected characteristics of real-world observations (i.e., the data) that you would expect to find were the hypothesis true.

4.Test (i.e., experiment) by collecting evidence (i.e., data) germane to each hypothesis and then applying the tools of inference (i.e., statistics) to draw conclusions.

5.Based on strength, cost, and feasibility of additional data collection, revise and improve the experiment until the desired level of certainty about the model truth or falsehood is achieved.
